Welcome to Checkers Cairns!
I purchased my first female Cairn puppy "Lucie" in 1982. Then 6
months later a new female playmate named Penny joined our household.
I started showing her in conformation and Whiscaregin's Merry
Penny became my first show champion. That started my love affair,
passion and continuing learning journey with this lively, sociable
and natural terrier.
Currently 33 Cairns from my breeding program are Canadian Champions
and showing is a hobby I really enjoy. Our puppies have also
excelled at obedience, agiliy, and flyball with their dedicated
owners. I may breed 1 to 3 litters a year and our puppies are well
socialized into our household. All puppies are sold CKC registered.
Good health, outgoing temperament, correct type and structure are
all important considerations in my breeding program. We want all
our puppies to be loved as family members and companions.
My husband and I live on a small acreage situated in the rolling
countryside 15 minutes south west of Calgary, Alberta. All our dogs
are walked daily on leash and they also have a large fenced outdoor
play yard. I limit my numbers to 6 adults of various ages and all
are housedogs. We do not have kennel facilities.
I am a member of the Cairn Terrier Club of Canada, All Terrier Club
of Alberta, Canadian Kennel Club, Cairn Terrier Club of America.
